Do it. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool.
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad. -

Jack of all trades is a master at none - its self-contradictory as much as it is true. With fighting, you must be competent in everything, not just one aspect. Pure Grapplers would get dominated by someone who could grapple and strike - at least because the grappler had little experience with good strikers, and the cross-trained opponent could use his own grappling to open up striking - ground and pound anyone? One of the best things of doing this is to open your eyes beyond the veil of "style" and see fighting for what it is.
And I also doubt that someone can not be good at, say, one sport and another. A lack of time to devote to training for both might be a bit of an issue, however.

BJJ seems to be less about self-defense and more about sport. A strong stand-up striking style like MT is a better path to go if you can get away from the sport mentality.

MT/BJJ has proven itself to be effective for fighting. For "self-defence" just add track and field for multiple opponent defence...
