Which do you prefer?

I say stick with 4oz. If you were to break a hand going bare knuckle in say the first round, by the last round it's going to be useless. At least with the gloves and wraps if that happens they'll help keep the swelling in tacked and save some use of the hand for you.

I really don't mind the gloves, but if I had it my way, I would go bare knuckle simply because its more realistic. That being said, I have only studied grappling arts (wrestling, judo, and jiu jitsu), and I know next to nothing about pugilistic arts, so this should be taken with a grain of salt.

When I was in Thailand, I met a guy who'd had a Muay Chaiya fight (a rope fight). I asked him what it felt like. His response was "It was like wearing MMA gloves made out of sandpaper".

Imagine getting cross-faced with those. Jeez.

I voted bare-knuckle because that'll give VC, WC, _ing _un, and all sorts of KF less credibility, plus the grappling arts will get a lot more grip-ability. It's a win-win.... Except now the striking trainers will have to Iron Palm it to get the same results. Striking is back on the down-swing, if that happens.

If you want an exciting fight, give'em bigger gloves. If you want a realistic fight, take away the gloves. You should be one extreme or the other, unless you like being mediocre.

i would love to see how mma would be today if it were bare knuckle. personally, i don't like to see fighters who spend all their time just throwing bombs and trying to get a knockout. which they wouldn't be able to do nearly as much if mma were bareknuckle. i am grappling biased though.
