BG mentioned he wanted someone else's perspective on what happened I decided to give a timely and well thought out attempt, so here it goes.
*Imagine Jack Bauer's Voice "The following takes place between 11am-1pm."
I woke that morning with dilemma already set infront of me. Go to MMA class or save my energies for the potential clash of the titans that was to come later that day? In the end I decided MMA class would give me a good warmup and I would have something to work on at the Throwdown. After a cruel and unusal warm-up at Elite MMA, I set out to find the mysterious location known as Meng's Martial Arts.
I myself was hoping to finally meet several legendary/infamous posters like Indy, the eclectic Tharuz and the one who brought his demise Daniel. Of course last but not least the Narrative Genius Mr. BadGuy. During my drive over I contemplated the internet flame-wars that had raged over the past months surrounding the troll known as Tharuz. Wondrous thoughts flowed through my imagination of a comedic beatdown that I would witness. Taking a breath and grabbing my gear I walked across the parking lot without knowing what to expect.
"The following takes place between 1pm-3pm
As I walked inside looking at the gym that I would never imagine a kung fu school would look like I was greeted by a charismatic owner Brad. We exchanged pleasantries and he told me how the throwdowns work while I signed some paper work. Walking into the bag room I attempted to soak in my surroundings.
Daniel was the first to greet me asking my user name and my real name [Edited for Content]. Next was our favorite Bard MBG, after exchanging some banter and finding him as humorous in person as he is online I suggested some striking since everyone else was doing it.
After trading hands and leg kicks I couldn't help but notice a lack of aggression or precision in his strikes. So we decided to switch to some man hugging. As much as I'd like to say I remember all of it, my memory is fuzzy maybe it's from sniffing glue as a kid or getting choked too much regardless I remember him being a legit blue belt in nogi. His halfguard was especially difficult, causing me to resort to my game of foot tickling (leglocks). After rolling Daniel expressed interest in some stand-up. Thinking back to Tharuz demolishment I accepted hoping there would be no repeat performance.
After some exchanges I felt reasonably comfortable. I have to complement Daniel on his striking, footwork, and leg sweeps (plus hes nicer than Mr. Rogers). Next I was asked to spar by what appeared to be a man carved from stone, his name was Eno. I thought I had met physically gifted athletes but this guy was a monster. During our entertaining sparring session the man threw punches that even when grazing hurt like hell. It went on for a while and was pretty fun, there was even an aikidoesque event involving a wall.
After a while I was slightly disappointed in the absence of a Tharuz thrashing, but content with some throwing hands and grappling. In the end I have to say the bullies didn't look anything like my vivid imagine made them out to look like. MBG was supposed to have a mustache, and Daniel needed more tattoos. Then we took a gay group picture, and bid farewell with talks of another TD.
