Yeah, it really makes you wonder about the mats you use from other people. I mean, we DO clean them... but now I'm thinking it's not often enough.

I was just struck by the thought, "Oh God. Filthy, filthy children also use those mats." Stupid tumbling and dance classes.

Reading this makes me wonder if I should even bother going to that Judo class at the public rec center. I mean if a school owner is not cleaning his mats what's the chance some guy teaching for free at the rec center is?

The rec center is a big place ripe for lawsuits, so yeah, they probably do.

Urg filthy children, I get enough of that from having to swim in a pool that is child infested and this piss/disease infested.

what is the proper way to clean a mat? how often should it be done? this damn thread has me worried now.

everyone showers at my gym tho. so everyone is clean. but still...

with bleach water or some kind of disinfectant... and it should be done EVERYDAY it is used!

Well holy ****, this has just exploded since I last looked at it.

The Question:

FREAKIN HUGE SPOILERS
I made it to green belt at the mcdojo school, then I made it up to blue belt with a stripe at the freakin awesome BJJ school. The branch I was going to moved 30 minutes away, which meant I had to relocate to something else. So, yea, blue belt with a stripe.

Also, to people who are questioning the safeness of mats:

I will remind you this was a fucking HORRIBLE, lazy, crappy instructor. Not all people are this bad. But it isn't a bad idea to volunteer to help clean the mats if you can, or just shower really, really well I guess.

Also, what the hell. Google "most effective way to kill stapholococcus" or something, or post it in the BJJ forum.
