    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Is your dojo/dojang a martial cult??

Okay, okay, I know I'm a really new newbie and have posted my hellos on newbietown, but I gotta ask: does anyone out there think their dojo/dojang/studio /whatever is a possible cult ? A mini martial kingdom? Feeling disenfranchised? This is killing me! I just got done wasting almost 3 (expensive)years of my life learning tkd. I had an extremely charming instructor, 6th degree BB, who demanded complete, utter respect and adoration from his subjects! I happily toed the line and tried to recruit many of my friends, without success. I finally woke up to this crap after attending a tkd tournament in CA. I'm just pissed at myself for walking goose step to all the tkd mental propaganda we had to learn. Y'know: modesty, integrity, perseverance, etc.... I have to admit it wasn't all bad. I got in pretty good shape and met lots of really nice people. Now that I quit my instructor is freaking out and left a screechy, hysterical message on my cell phone(10 weeks after I quit!)insisting that I cxall hime back and tell him why I quit. Comments anyone? I also read Herding the Moo....pretty fasinating and sad.

I'm in a martial cult of the blue oyster kind.

If I told you about it, I'd have to kill you. With a cowbell.
DIDN'T YOU KNOW?! The Chinese know everything! And they knew it 4,000 years before YOU did!

Do you actually think people admit to themselves that they are in a cult and say "yeah, I'm in a cult" when asked?

Maybe we should ask members who have been saved and rehabilitated by the heroes in the little known

    TMA dojocult snatch squads

we could set up an area on the site where they relate the horrors of Sensei worship, One and Three Step sparring, being indoctrinated into the d34dly arts etc, maybe in an Oprah style flashback with actors used to protect the innocent

I found excerpts of Herding The Moo on books.google.com. Seems like some folks never learn: right from a martial arts cult and into the tawdry world of vanity publishing. The book reads like ****, but I'm sure the writer considers himself a Jenyoowine Published Author now.
