I actually meet a whole club of Aikidoka who were completely normal!!

Went to train for a few months when I couldnt find a decent JJ club in the area.
The sensei didnt **** about with mystical energy flows, he battered you then threw you hard enough to make your eyes bleed.

Would have stuck with it if I hadnt moved with work.

If anyone doesn't believe me, I am sure I can find out where he trains

No, there are a good few aikido clubs who are good. Hard sparring, lots of intense excersise, emphasis on making your techniques work, no projectile ukes etc. Similar to full contact jujutsu, that kind of thing. I think hellis was a member who owned an aikido club with alive training, wrote a few articles for bullshido.
Only problem is that the clubs which emphasise no excersise, defenses against aggresive rolling breakfalls, no touch knockdowns, twirly wristlocks are more common.

Good luck if you found someone who can teach Aikido minus the ki crap. I've trained at 4 clubs over the years and got so fed up with the arrogance of the buggers that it completely put me off aikido (oh - and plus the fact it is crap as a martial art)

I 100% agree with that! My brother trained aikido for a number of years and later learned some striking from boxing and other stuff. When he tried to show it to his aikido buddies, they wouldn't listen. Basically, the attitude was: "If it's not aikido, it's crap!"

This was the whole class though. The instructor knew i was from a JJ background and would actually tell the students how I would approach the techniques he was teaching from a different angle.

They had a bujinkan club at the same place. they were a bunch of tools. Had green belts that called themselves Blade and other ridiculous names. but thats another story haha
