Uechi Ground Defense
A semi-lengthy article about krotty groundfighting. Though some of the techniques seem a little suspect (figure 2, in particular, seems to be begging for an armbar), i'm too much of a n00b to tell whether this is entirely stupid or not. Thoughts?

It's pretty much all garbage.
One upa is a zillion times more effective than anything they wrote there. A zillion.

lol, so the only way they know how to get off their back is to perform a shitty kimura with their elbow. fuckin ridiculous.

that was deeply, deeply awful.

Some of the striking mechanics made sense, and could probably get you more power off your back, but what are you going to do with it? Trade strikes with a guy sitting on your chest? Maybe your caretakers will care that you gave a nasty charlie horse to the guy who beat you into a coma, but I'm pretty sure you won't.

Why go to all this effort of creating secret karate moves to strike from under the mount, when there are hundreds of shiftless BJJ blue belts who would come to your krotty school and teach everyone the elbow escape for a Big Mac and Fries?

that's what I was gonna say:...."Why not try to f-ing escape?"There is no cheating, there is only jiu-jitsu.

Because, as karateka, we absolutely refuse to use anything other than strikes, no matter what the circumstances.

I remember seeing that on MAP a while back. The basic concensus was "yes, that is an excellent way to get armbarred."
Trading blows with someone from an inferior position, one might be so bold as to say, not the best idea. I'd rather not having a boxing match with someone who has me mounted.
