As I recall, Accelerade has sucrose in it, which is the most easily metabolizable sugar. That's why I chose it over Gatorade because liquid Gatorade now has high fructose corn syrup in it, which sucks for readily available energy. It also makes some people feel nauseous during or after exercise.
There was a thread discussing this not too long ago, but I don't have time to find it right now.
Jay Robb Whey.
You can get the trial size at Vitamin Shoppe. Its 1 Carb, I believe 1 Fat but it might be 2, and 20 something protein. I have no idea how good the quality of the protein compares with other brands. But I tried all four flavors in the trial size yesterday on a lark. Two things were apparent.
1. It mixes terrible with water. Really, really terrible.
2. It tastes awesome. Even with water instead of milk.
If I ever started making deserts using whey powders like on the desert recipe thread, I would use that stuff exclusively, cause its already almost desert.
A fuit, sometimes half a sandwhich, and some Mike Mix (plain shredded wheat w/ unsalted peanuts). I know what to eat before matches, don't worry.

If I get a chance, I'll try that Jay Robb Whey.
Oh, and by the way, I don't give two shits about gas. I practically crap myself every practice and match. If I fart during a match, I don't give a ****, the other guy will be basking in it just as much as I will.
Two flavors left to go. I'm expecting more of the "grampa's butt" aftertaste. Let's see what happens.
Is accelerade for rehydration or is it a protein source?
Both. That's what seperates it from a protein shake. That' the distinction that was made earlier between an electorlyte drink with protein and a protein shake.
Dude, seriously. AnyWhey. Thank me later.
I wouldn't drink the whey shake durimg a grappling tournament. You already have some food, so you don't need it for the calories.
Accelerade seems good, probably better than Gatorade.
Also, look into CytoSport's Cytomax, an Accelerade type drink mix.
