How does accelerade taste?
This is a pretty simple question. I picked up some accelerade today, and haven't gotten the chance to try it out yet (cuttin' weight), so I'm really just wondering how accelerade tastes. Also, if anyone can point me to a protein drink/powder that tastes good, that would be nice.
I think the flavors I have are... mango peach, fruit punch, and mountain berry.
It tastes okay as long as it's ice cold. I found it has a chalky texture, which I guess is the whey, when I drink it at room temperature.
I use/used Optimum Nutrition protein powder. I used Costco stuff for a while, but that **** wouldn't mix at ALL and tasted vile. ON is pretty good.
Are you looking for a protein shake, or an electrolyte drink with protein?
Actually, that is a great question, and I'm kind of looking for both/either/one of each. I'm drinking one bottle of Accelerade during a tournament this sunday to help my muscle endurance and recovery (16 matches = up to an hour and thirty six minutes of wrestling, that takes a LOT of endurance), and gatorade isn't good if taken too often.

It tastes like ass when warm. I'd recommend Cytosport with some ON AnyWhey (flavorless protein) mixed in over accelerade.
Who's asshole should it taste like? Sorry, I had to. Might I recommend Met RX Vanilla- mixes pretty easy and it's tasty- you can get it at Trader Joes. Plus, it has a lower cholesterol and sugar rating then some of the others out there.

I second AnyWhey. I add it to unflavored PediaLyte with some Kool-Aid, not especially tasty but I hate sweeteners. In your case you might try one of the sweetened versions. I'm not sure how long you have between matches, but you might try munching a few orange slices as well.
Edit: I dilute the PediaLyte 1/4 to 3/4 water, otherwise it's a little thick. I might add some extra dextrose if I were in your situation.
And it looks like the powder has fructose, which does often cause gas and bloating in people.

You can make your own blend of whatever the hell you want. You can choose from a few different carbohydrate sources and various protein sources along with what type of sweetener you want plus a variety of flavors.
I have ordered from this place several times and they seem like a good company.
Since the majority of your mixture would be carbs it should be pretty cheap by the lb..
