When they refer to full-time fighters, it means (AFAIK) that they make a living from fighting and related incoming (including sponsorship, advertisement, teaching, etc.)
That is, they don't need to keep a full-time job to make ends meet as many MMA fighters unfortunately must, which is a detriment to their training. A full-time fighter doesn't need an additional job (or maybe he does, but he makes enough as a fighter to survive). As a result, he can devote more time to training (and recovery.)
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also, unless the thread takes a different turn, I will be 8it to YMAS later. It is a fair, educated question, but it's not directly related to the topics in the PT forums.Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -

Was gonna make it in YMAS to begin with, but didn't know if it'd go there. I'd appreciate the move.
Thanks for the explanation though. I guess even though I only now work a fraction of what I used to work, and took a break from school, I'm still just hobbyist training.
Makes it really difficult though to explain to friends and family what I'm doing with my day farting around in Toronto.Last edited by Aikicat; 1/04/2008 5:22pm at .

What is considered "full time" training?
