I was thinking that we first have a 'sweep' of a certain area, maybe 20x20' square/circle and try to clear that area of rocks. If there's half a dozen or more of us that'd take around 10 minutes. Bad news is that I just asked BCIT and they don't allow combat sports without a ton of waivers and a lot of other crap like instructor certifications and all that crap. Rinzai is checking up on SFU. He says he'll update us in a bit

Oh, well SFU is better anyway, in fact, if he can get in touch with the wrestling team there, I know one of those guys and I'm sure he'd be happy to have us, assuming he isn't busy.
As for combat sports at BCIT...WHY THE **** DID YOU ASK ABOUT COMBAT SPORTS!? All you had to do was say it was for yoga or tai chi or something!

Hahahaha I didn't say combat sports, I said "How much is the rent for the activity room?" the head was like "80$ per HOUR" I was like "Wtf so expensive! " He was like what's it for? I was like "A meeting of martial artists" and he said "Ahh sparring!" then he rattles off about the waivers hahahahahaha

Derrickv and myself got together @ Metrotown to discuss regular sparring and training in the vancouver/burnaby area. Essentially we would like to create a small but dedicated group who can make it out and get some training done. Before we get into sparring anyone who is interested should meet up with us first to discuss what type of training you want and if we can accomodate to your needs. After that we need training space. Unfortuately BCIT is out but SFU seems promising. I think its a $4.00 drop-in fee for non-members to use the gym which is available to the public on Tues and Fri evenings. I'm going to call them up tomorrow to get through the details and red-tape.
Yes, I want to get into grappling as well so suck it up and roll on the floor until we figure out if we can get access to the wrestling room. I created a group for those who have Facebook. Search for Combatology and join-in (don't mind the name and jargon, it basically means we spar and train). I'll post schedule times and locations if we get this thing up and running--hopefully by this weekend.

LOL, that sucks.
The guy I know at SFU, as far as I know, runs an MMA/grappling club there, I'm going to try and get ahold of him, but if SFU ends up not being an option, there are plenty of schools that have drop-in fees we could go to.

The YMCA in Van might be an option. I train with someone in the mornings at the one here in Vic using their empty fitness room. I think the waivers are all sort of built in to the sign-up form with YMCA because of the possibility of someone getting injured in their gym.

Added you Rinz, any news on SFU?

I can't load the bullshido forums page on my computer and I can't invite
you to the Combatology group unless your network is in Vancouver--I hate
computers! Anyways, heres the deal with SFU. The Combatives room is
closed for renovations but there is combative space available on the
west-side gym. I gave it a look and its good, has mats and decent
training space. The space is available, "generally" as the guy put it,
from 7:00am to 4:00pm weekdays and weekends. From 4:00pm to 9:00pm its
used by the SFU wrestling team. Heres the catch, for non-SFU members
there is a $99 registration fee which will last from Jan 2008 to Aug
2008, which is not bad because it includes the weight room and swimming
pool if we choose to use them. I'm willing to pay the $99 for 8 months,
im sure is a safe bet that no one will be using the space in the
mornings. I'm available for training Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
mornings. What do you think? give me call to let me know what ur
schedule is like. if its cool, lets drop the $$$ and start training!
So are you guys up for it? Tell me what you think! His browser's fucking up
