Hello everyone, I haven't posted on this forum before, but have been reading it for some time. I do judo at a university club that does not have a regular trainer at the moment, so have bought some books to try to keep up.
The club focuses a lot on ground techniques and I have been trying to use the omoplata from the guard for some time. The problem is I can't get it thight enough, I always end up either to far on my back to get any pressure on the shoulder or I have to grab the arm I've trapped and twist it to get any effect.
I'm very much a beginner so I realise I might sound helpless, but the situation in the club makes it neccesary to try out things by trial and error. I hope a can get some pointers.

Pop quiz: If you've been reading the forum for some time, why did you post this question in DHS?

Could you tell me where to post it, perhaps? Or is the question unforgivably poor?

It just belongs in the noob forum, anyway, you need to lean across their body and possibly grab the opposite arm or the head to finish, if you don't understand that, for ****'s sake, look it up on youtube or something.

Scoot your arse backwards to get your body upright, then sidways away from uke to break his posture. Only then try and finish/sweep with it.
