yeah those little diagonal rods hurt with low kicks. also you have to weight the frame down or the thing will slide all over the place. Also those set ups tend to be rickety and the screws come loose or shear off from torsional strain. We just redrilled some holes though and that solved the problem for the time being.
imo the best solution was making the hangmans pole or you could make something like a ..here draw you a picture.

What are you going to trust the safety of your family when the zombies come with lower caliber weapons? PSHAA! Is little zombiefied jimmy young going to give you a second thought when you explain to him that the .50 cal was too heavy? I think not.
In all seriousness, pole idea works and can give you the mobility the store bought frame doesnt allow. I made one of these at my last place and it was worth the extra effort so that i could practice kick combos etc. If you have a lowes or some kind of lumber yard you can also make it for cheaper if you don't include the effort and time (digging a fence post hole takes some time). If you don't like cutting the wood, I suggest using the sandwich idea. It costs more wood, but its also more stable. Oh and if you hang a heavy heavy bag, you'll need that truss. -
