He didn't get to spar/train with Frank because he sucked. If you've seen a lot of his san shou fights...he's very, very dangerous as a striker, and in the clinch. One of the best I've seen with the punches to kicks combo....Frank'll need to be on his top game, or he'll get decked...cung is way faster than Baroni, or any of the guys he's fought lately (that I know of).

Cung belongs fighting some of the best...this is a great thing.

This will be interesting. I don't see Shamrock pulling a Tony Fryklund and trying to stand with Le.
I want Cung Le to win, because that will take us a step closer to Cung Le vs Anderson Silva.
My prediction, however, is Frank Shamrock by kneebar or something equally ridiculous.

Wasn't Shamrock going to have a rematch with Renzo first...?

Not to mention World San Shou Champ in the IKF, ISKA, and preformed well in K-!. His striking well bring MMA to new heights, and his fight with Tony Fryklund was anything but fake.

The only thing from Cung, that I saw, that wasn't a match, match...was a two minute exhibition with some dude, a kickboxer type, who he threw around for a couple of minutes.

Cung and Frank'll be one of the best matchups possible at the moment. I wouldn't bet against him against anyone right now, he's young, hungry, insanely strong, and has so much experience in throwing people, and not allowing takedowns...he'll have teh r33l anti-grapple hehe.

Cung has nothing to lose while Frank has his reputation to uphold.

    Can't wait.

No doubt a great fight, indeed. But as for this bout being a step towards an Anderson Silva fight, (mentioned earlier in the thread) I find it hard to believe that Cung Le could take on a grappler of Anderson's skill. whew! That was tough saying that, being a hardcore Cung Le fan.

I disagree. If anything, Cung Le has more to lose. He has a 5-0 winning streak in MMA right now with five knockouts. If he loses, his golden boy image gets broken.
Frank Shamrock already has a impressive career behind him. Going 22-8 to 22-9 won't be a big difference.

Damn near every guy Cung has beaten is in MMA is someone he beat in Sanda before. Plusmost of the guys he beat in Sanda were first or second timers to the sport. I think he's trying to prove his critics wrong by fighting Frank, and it's a big risk- he's like a god in the Santa Clara Vietnamese/Asian community. The last thing he would want is to get beat in front of his cult- I mean fans.

He's quite the competitor though...I'm sure he's looking forward to it.
