Mr Merlino said that any promoter or organisation staging a caged combat sport event would face fines of up to $12,000 or 12 months' imprisonment, or both.
This sounds like MMA could still happen in a ring. I wonder how the ban is written, because from this it sounds like you could have an event with pretty much the same rules in a ring (not a cage) and call it pankration or something like that that won't upset the bleeding hearts. It still sucks though. -
