    arm bar injury

    Hello all,
    My arm is screwed. Wondering if anyone has ever been through this. I had been training in Brazilian JJ for about a year, almost a blue belt, when my arm was seriously injured with an arm bar. It was practice and the guy wouldn't let go even after I tapped. I knew it was bad when it happened. He said he didn't hear or feel me tap. Anyway, a year later and I am still out of commission. I have been to a few doctors, even one that supposedly specializes in sports medicine and works on the Utah Jazz. Xray didn't show anything. They also did an EMG, which is were they run electrical currents through your nerves to test them. NOT a fun test. Anyway, after 2 different doctors and nothing happening, just wondering if anyone else had ever been through this and what the outcome was. I guess I should demand an MRI to get to the soft tissue. I was hoping it would get better as they said it would. Just want to get back to the gym and training. Any thoughts. Thanks.

    Dam dude, that sucks ass. I'd take your own advice and demand an MRI. Seems the only way to get to the problem...

    Usually MRI comes before an EMG, but yeah, I say you should go demand an MRI.

    What kind of arm bar was it? How did it screw up your arm? What did it feel like was happening to your arm?

    Got caught in a Bicep Slicer a month ago and it still hurts. However, I am too stupid to stop training. Sometimes you endure the pain and eventually it goes away. As far as training goes, I would say train around the injury unless it's really serious. By Serious I mean that you can't feel your fingers or worse. Sometimes the body just works it's problems on it's own. Either way feel better.

    Something I've been wondering is, if you do get your elbow or kneejoint hyperextended, what should you or someone else do for first aid? Should it be "popped" back into place? Left that way until you get to a hospital?

    I've heard about the "capsule" getting popped when the elbow is hyperextended. Is that referring to the bone cap moving? What about the knee's patella? I'd love any and all info from any medical people here.
