ronin athletics is the place to be.
lots of great, nice, quality guys, great training atmosphere and christian is one of the best teachers you can ask for.
the emphasis on no gi is actually much better for kali tudo.
and as it's unlimited classes with many available class times, you should be good to go. -

Go to Ronin, mojo. You want MMA, and its one of the only actual MMA gyms in NYC.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

NY Combat Sambo Style: combat sambo--
Ronin over fighthouse, but what Tom said is true. You have to say who you would train under at fighthouse...there are many different instructors there. Ronin has a good reputation.
You are always welcome to come by our club as well. www.nycombatsambo.com
Drop me a line if you like. We will be closed for the holidays from Dec 22 - Jan 2. -

Sounds like a unanimous vote for Ronin. Was primarily looking for some striking / grappling to complement my stickfighting / dumog, but don't really have time to devote to separate BJJ and Muay Thai classes. At this point my utter ignorance of MMA training is probably showing through. I guess the guy at fighthouse who'd be teaching the class is Adam Schortz. I know nothing about him.
Anyway, I'm REALLY new to all of this, but it's been loads of fun so far and I was looking to expand.Last edited by mojo23; 12/18/2007 8:03pm at .

the Muay Thai classes at the fight house however are top notch, especially if u want to pick up some conditioning work. I intend to get back there once I begin my new job and get some money in my pocket....
Judo, BJJ, Muay Thai, and perhaps some MMA classes at Vamos. Will I finally learn to fight perhaps?Knowing is not enough, you must apply...
