I Am the oldest student at the School and pretty much am the babysitter for Mr. Kogadei's extended family. My mom can barely afford this school and I wish to learn a true Martial Art and eventually learn Ninjutsu. However, All our funding is going towards this "school."

I have decided that I must remain in the school for the remainder of the academic year and graduate, however, not for me; for my mother and the other students in the school.

What Im asking from you fine folks is to cut the crap and give me the truth about what Ive been doing for the past 3 years of my life. :seppuku:

    Wait, WTF?

This West Wind Karate school doubles as an ACTUAL SCHOOL? WTF???

If their schooling is anything like their martial arts - geez I can't even finish that thought it's so fuckign horrible.

1000 a month is ridiculous. You could go to a crappy private school with that.

    As for West Wind, http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12882

Hey Student, when you graduate from West wind, do you have a high school diploma? What grade are you in? And also, wouldn't it be easier to go to a continuation school?

As far as you training goes, you live in the East Bay I assume. There's a ton of great MA schools there, as well as SF. You have plenty of opportunities ahead of you, and despite how West Wind operates as a business, I'm sure you learned something from it all.

wow, a martial arts school that has academic classes?

like the others, I too am interested in their curriculum. 4 hours per day sounds pretty lax to me. To function as a school they must be overseen by the school board to ensure compliance with no child left behind and also the other state educational mandates. Right now I'm too busy to do a good google search, do you have any links to the academic portion of their website?

My god, it's like compound interest- West Wind gets worse exponentially!!! Home schooling? $ 1000.00 per month? Someone needs to go to the Marines, come back with a Laws Rocket, and put an end to that place. I'm kidding, of course. And don't go over to East West- that's crap as well. The guy that is recommending East West works for one of the lamest fire departments ever- I've seen them watch a house burn and just stand there. They have a nice, shiny fire truck, though. Kind of like their school.

Look this is just my 2 cents. If your going into the Marines and you want to do some MA training prior to joining I would suggest Muay Thai, San shou, Judo or BJJ. Ninjitsu (in most cases) would be at the bottom of my list of MA's to train in preparation for entering the Military.

You will not learn ANYTHING in a Ninjitsu school that will be of any use to you in the Corps. As a matter of fact, you won't learn anything there that will be of any use to you outside of 14th century feudal Japan.

Even then you'd be better off training with Samurai.

Take Judo until you leave for bootcamp. You'll be shocked how much of it they use.

And better yet, crap out on the Marines. If you think WW is bullshido, take a look at the chicken hawks and fake "bring it on" morons who put our brave men and women in harm's way. And I'm not putting down the military, I'm saying that you'll be a dupe for assholes who don't give a **** for you or any other vet.

    http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12882 is a must read.

Okay SS I have some questions.

    1) When you graduate are you taking the GED for your diploma? Or does this school actually award degrees?

    2) Do they hand you work books and have you fill them out, or do they actually have teachers? If they have teachers, do these people have actual educational credentials as verses martial arts "credentials".

    3) For your first Ninja mission please copy and scan West Wind's certificate to provide home schooling. You can then post it here. I bet its displayed somewhere in public.
