Don't think there is another thread on this yet. Thanks to Tom Kagan for the link. Would have put this up earlier, but was totally busy over the weekend, sorry guys. :P
I saw it...it was actually pretty decent. They approached it from a pretty decent standpoint, looking at it purely from a business/marketing point of view and little on the political, moral, and "is it safe?" debates that reports/stories on MMA are usually plagued with...which was fresh...b/c we can only hear about the John McCain stuff (which they touched upon briefly) so often and MMA's well past that point now...
I could have done without the segment on Tapout, but at the same time, it showed the growth of a brand starting from the grassroots level and how it's become the most recognized brand name in MMA....
It's a business channel covering it as a business. Which was refreshing and kinda interesting. One complaint is that it pretty much ignored pride and K1, which are still a pretty frickin big part of the picture (historically so for pride), which all made dana seem a little more important than he maybe was. Of course, the whole thing really was about him, so you expect a little puff.
I liked when Rorian said the UFC no longer was the "ultimate fighting championship" becuase they added rules. So, now it's just a tough athletic guy who knows how to manipulate the rules and not the best fighter in the world.
I haven't been able to watch the show, so, I was looking around youtube and stumbled upon this:
Thought you guys may find interesting.
**** man, GOOD FIND. Fucking politics.
Knowing is not enough, you must apply...
...Willing is not enough you must do
Man, I love the smell of graft early in the morning.
I saw this and thought it was excellent, except for the interview with Couture, which I found extremely depressing.
Holy hell, well that was a little different, wasn't it?
