But you didn't make it. You didn't win a fight or make lots of money. You fucked a woman. That's all. Your level of expertise in the field is completely on par with the several billion other people on this planet capable of having intercourse.

    Absolutely. But...

Having children does give you a new appreciation of the experience of parenthood, and an appreciation of what's required. It's like fighting in that respect - some of the TUF armchair commentators might know all about the strategy and tactics, but they've never known the experience of fighting - the singular combination of emotions and perceptions associated with martial arts.

In short: yes, it doesn't give you skills or wisdom, but it can afford a better appreciation of what's bound up in caring for another life.

    Not exactly...

Having children only means one thing, you can reproduce. Parenthood is an entirely different factor and that deals with a lot of factors are separate from being able to skeet skeet at the right time. Being able to throw a punch doesn't give you a new appreciation of the experience of fighting. Like fighting, parenthood takes desire, heart and dedication.

Must of added this after I quoted.

The word here is CAN. I'm pretty sure that Boyd's point is that its not automatic. New2bjj has been wrong on many things on this thread and hid behind the fact that he is a parent and Boyd isn't (he may be don't remember) as if simply having kids will impart some insight on how to raise them. Simple fact that it is trial and error and only for those parents who care enough to try.

Absolutely. I should have said 'parenthood' instead of 'having kids'.

Yes, I think it is perfectly reasonable for a parent to pull their kid out of an MA school if the head instructor is caught using steroids.

    No, no, no.

    Skull-mapping's no good.

They've appropriated it into their creole ghetto culture.
