The most direct route is to eat less. If you need precisely 2000 calories per day to maintain, it's a helluva easier to eat fewer calories per day, as opposed to hopping on a treadmill and assuming that stupid little calorie counter is an accurate representation is what's actually going on inside of you.
What's more, the more you do anything but sit around at rest, the more you DEemphasize fat mobilization; caveats notwithstanding. -

Yeap pretty much.
1. Do cardio. It's the best way to burn calories.
2. Reduce calorie consumption so the daily intake compared to necessary maintenance is negative.
3. Why not not those muscles a bit more?
Stay away from colas and fried foods.
Get more protein and less carbs and fat.
Eat more often to stimulate your body to burn more fat.
Look at 6 smaller meals per day if possible.
One big meal makes your body retain fat and lowers your metabolism.

Man, LOSING fat is a wierd idea to me. I'm one of those people who eats a couple scoops of icecream literally almost every day and doesn't have any fat to show for it. Apparently I have eight percent body fat. But it's also very hard for me to gain muscle mass (though I have been gaining strength lately).
