Basic differences between Shuri and Goju from what I have been told are:

Gojo has a higher chamber and a lower stance, gives them a bit more mobility

Shuri uses weapons (Goju tends to focus more on unarmed fighting) almost all of Shuri weapons were actually farm and fishing tools. The sai would be an exception to this.

Shuri has animal forms, goju doesn't

Goju trains with more contact, and due to their stance tends to have farther reach.

Goju uses more kicks and head shots. Shuri tends to go more for body shots.

Shuri has no ground game that I have seen. We sometimes get a few classes taught by a judo sensai that rents the place for classes from my sensai but I have been sidelined during these rare occasions, so my ground game is non-existant. I have no idea what Goju's is like if they even have one.

I have never trained in Goju but these are the differences that have been noticed and mentioned by upper belts (1-3rd level browns) that came to my dojo after studying Goju because they wanted something similar and there just isn't an easy to find good goju dojo around here. How accurate the information is I can only guess but I do hear my sensai remind them "lower your chamber and heighten your stance this is not Goju"

Course Sensai is forever telling me, "Where is that foot trying to go, nerve damage or not if that foot is not pointing in the right direction you will never be able to do this" so I understand the awkwardness of making your body unlearn something and it actually makes me feel better to know these guys have to work on some basic stuff as well, even though they could kick my ass.
