What is a suitable snack to eat before a weights session or mma?
with not much fat.
Toasted bread with butter and tea.
Fruit of any kind before a lift.
I would not eat anything right before a fight. I suppose if I had a burning, gnawing, demanding hunger in my stomach, I would take a few bites of a piece of the aforementioned fruit.
That's about the only eating I would want to do right before excercise.
seems like i'm on the right track then, i usually have about 400g of fruit salad before weights or mma training.
If I'm feeling hungry I go with a few walnuts and a tablespoon of honey.
so it's advisable to eat very little before training?
It depends on the time frame you are talking about.

If you eat anything 30 minutes prior to exercise you want it to be small and with alot of carbohydrates, mainly simple carbs so they are absorbed quicker. As you can see fruit fits into this category quite well.
Bananas. Before and after training.
Immediately before training, yes. I usually eat my last meal 1 hour before, and usually try to keep it light on fat with plenty of complex carbs. The walnuts and honey is just if I have the sensation of feeling hungry. Anything you're digesting while working out is probably just going to sap your energy.
thanks for the help people
