Thread: Vik Hothi Wing Tsun master

I haven't found any site on which he claims to have fought in the UFC, so at this point we have an anonymous person saying he claimed to do so.
The story about "being a good Lier [sic]" says he's working in a new gym and is entering a competition (what I perceive/assume to be an escrima competition)
Hothi's site states:
Sifu Vik Hothi
Sifu Vik has been practicing martial arts for nearly 20 years. After achieving a black belt in karate at an early age and winning many local tournaments he moved on to WTF (full contact) Tae Kwon Do and became regional champion, training with the Great Britain squad. He was introduced to Leung Ting's Wing Tsun in 1995 and became the youngest 1st TG (black belt) at the age of 17. Sifu Vik opened his first class at age 18 and a little while after started training in Brazilian Jujitsu and Muay Thai boxing. Looking for an effective weapons system, Sifu Vik found Escrima and training with 'Big' Paul Leslie and Master Steve Tappin in 2001. As a competitive martial artist Sifu Vik became the WT Fighter Club champion, and eventually coach, after fighting and winning 100 full contact limited rules fights (with head guard). Sifu Vik has also fought in MMA competitions an most recently in the 'Call2Arms' Escrima/MMA arena.
Sifu Vik's pursuit of martial arts excellence led him to begin his studies in sports science and physical culture, and as a result was one of the first people in Europe to use Kettlebells for martial arts in Europe (2000). Recognising that leading-edge training techniques require an increased focus on the safety of the martial artist or athlete being taught, Sifu Vik sought and acquired certification from two of the most respected sports science coaches in the world - Pavel Tsatsouline and Scott Sonnon, becoming the only instructor in Europe qualified in both Russian Kettlebells (RKC) and Circular Strength Training (CST). Sifu Vik is now a highly-respected sports and martial arts coach, having trained K-1 and Escrima champions. Sifu Vik is the longest serving practitioner of WT in the UK, completing the whole WT system. and is the most experienced instructor in the practical use of the art, both in the competitive arena and on the 'street', having worked as a Door Supervisor for a number of years.
Sifu Vik is now the Chief Instructor for IMAS, using his in-depth knowledge of martial arts and sports science to produce superior martial artists in a rapid timescale.
The KF thread you reference, with an appearance by Tom Kagan nonetheless, only has someone say "seems hes now sponsored by a martial arts supply company and unbeaten in full NHB fights (so I was told by a friend)".
So your evidence is a rumor and your claim that you, whoever you are, were told by Hothi in person that he fought in the UFC? I'm no expert, but as the above poster mentioned, the Call2Arms looks on the surface to be pretty legit. It doesn't say anywhere that he's "undefeated."
More likely over-enthusiastic friends/students/intra-WT rumor mill exaggerated the situation and/or you're a troll.

Champions in WEKAF? Possible.
K1 sounds a little fishier.

If he is/is not the youngest WT blackbelt or "longest serving" WT guy in the UK is another matter, but I for one have no way of evaluating this. I don't know if WT uses the vanguard-party system or the Leninist-cell model, but I'd think someone would know if these points were true or not within WT.
Basically, I've yet to see where he's a liar and a scam artist, which are big words to throw out by someone who quotes an umpteenth-hand rumor in a post as Hothi's "claim'.

First off i'd like to say that you could of put a better picture of me up there, i mean come on! That was after 3 days of hard training and testing.
In regards to the allegations against me, what can i say except phoney is living up to his name. i dont want to get into a war of words so i'll just clarify a few things and if Phoney has anything to say in response he can do it at the call2arms in april (so he has time to do a couple of laps around the park while listening to Rocky on his iPOD so he feels ready) - evolution format.
As has been correctly pointed out on this forum (thanks to the guys that had the integrity to check and post honestly) i have NEVER fought on the undercard to the UFC, although i'd love to! As for my fight record, i dont know why he's made it such a big deal (although in the WingTsun circles it is as none of them really fight anymore) about it - i have training partners and friends who have far better ones! I'm sure i have some of my medals from my TKD/karate days around but i think it would be a little childish to start posting pics of those! When i got heavily into WT i used to go over to Denmark regularly and train in the famous (among WingTsun/WingChun people) Fighter Club, with thier champion who is a good friend and former training partner of mine Nic Osei. Check him out on youtube, very good mma fighter and escrimador, going for a European title fight soon i believe. I then introduced the Fighter Club to the NWTO in the UK where i fought 100 times to earn the right as coach - because of the person in charge of the organisation at the time we stopped it soon after as it was'nt the direction he wanted the organisation to go. All i have is my 25, 50, 75 and 100th fight certificates and a few videos of them so feel free to come down and have a look - MY STUDENTS ALREADY HAVE. I have fought in amateur (no punches to head etc) and pro mma fights a few years ago but due to injury could not progress as far as i wanted to. I also had a falling out with a promoter that really dissillusioned me about the whole sport at the time. Things have changed now and i will be fighting mma again next year. I NEVER said i was an escrima world champion but i did say i had trained one - Amo Singh - who became the heavyweight full contact escrima world champion in Escrima Concepts (under master Steve Tappin). I was to fight in the British Championships but they got cancelled at the last call2arms but i will be fighting in the World Championships next year (I believe Master Steve and others will be organising that). I have indeed worked with a rising star on the K-1 circuit, who was a training partner of mine and good friend and in the contest i helped him prepare for his most destructive performance at that time knocking out his opponent in the 2nd minute of the first round. I think i'll see if he'll write a little something on my site - speaking of which - i didnt join IMAS, i founded IMAS!
I would just like to conclude with a quick thank you to Mike Dunnage (who's tournament call2arms i have the privellage of attending and fighting in) who was kind enough to inform me about what this clown had been spurting out. I love the martial arts and everyting they have done for me and the people around me - i would never want to sully it with lies for what ever little gain i would get. Phoney should of participated in the class and maybe train with us to see if we were the real deal - you know - been upfront and get a real view of me and my class. Not cool.
Thanks for your time,
yours in the arts,
P.S. organised an mma tournament, cancelled at the last sec and kept the cash - come on man! Who the hell does that!?
P.P.S. If there are any further questions, please feel free to email me at; firstname.lastname@example.org

Would PHONEY care to explain his agenda?

Maybe Vik would like to weigh in on DR TT's Latosa Weapon system thread.
being from the same WT art as him. He might offer a different view on DTT's escrima techniques.
Being that it's been established he is legit
has trained and competed and applied his art under pressure.
I think he would have good constructive insight and criticism for that thread.
