    Hell yeah! Hell no!

What happens if there is a fatality in an officially sanctioned MMA match?

MMA hasn't had many (or any?) deaths but I have always wondered what the legal procedure be if there was one in the future. Suppose one of the figthers gets kicked really hard in the head knocking him out and sending him in to a coma with him resting in peace later on at the hospital. What happens to the fighter than kicked him?

Probably whatever happens when people die in boxing matches or Toughman contests? That happens often enough, from what I hear.

I don't think boxers or kickboxers are penalized in any way if their opponent dies, as long as they stayed within the rules.

After all, it's accepted that it's dangerous and death could possibly be a result.

First of all, if it does happen, we can only hope you're the victim, keke.

Secondly, if it is within the rules, the death is considered accidental...and then the sport is banned everywhere.

One guy has died, in the Ukraine years ago.

Douglas Dedge, but apparently the match was unsanctioned.

Here's the wikipedia page, but keep in mind the citations are basically non-existent, so i don't know what to believe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Dedge

Also video of the fatal match:

He died being an ass. He had a severe head injury and yet decided he could fight anyway, and deliberately set about circumventing the sanctioning body of his sport... give this fucker a Darwin award.

    What happens?
Several arts try and claim that the fighter that was unfortunate enough to kill the other guy was one of their stylists so they can, once and for all, claim that they really are too deadly for the cage.
    I mean 2 d34dly 4 t3h cage.

On the bright side I'm pretty sure that it would be worthy of a tag on Bs.net

On a more serious note, most of the mainstream MMA orgs seem to err on the side of caution regarding stoppages. Unless a fighter walked in with a pre-existing medical condition, you'd be talking about a freak occurance.
****, you can die jogging if you have a pre-existing (often undiagnosed) condition.
