Punch power comes from footwork, not muscle tension.
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog -

Matt Brzycki is a wise man.
I think of Mike Tyson when I think of hand speed. I watched a "Greatest Hits" tape last year, and it boggles the mind that soemone with his size can move with his quickness. If you ever get to watch his fight against Marvis Frazier, it was surreal. He knocked him out with one punch, and then on the way DOWN to the mat, he caught him *square on the face 3 more damn times*. He didn't simply throw 3 more punches (which would have been cool enough), he crisply landed 3 more.
This was a kid going against his peers. People whose *full time job* is training, yet he blew them away. People with those kinds of gifts are born. Period. You don't learn to be a Barry Sanders, or Mike Tyson. We can only marginally improve ourselves, but marginal improvements pale in comparison to those with genetic head starts.
