Judo tournaments are almost always long drawn out days. Bring lots of stuff to keep yourself busy, books, I-pod, whatever. Plan to be there for the entire day.
Make sure you get a good warm-up. I usually do one heavy one first thing before the tournament starts to get the blood pumping and then another around thirty minutes or so before I think I'm going to fight. If you're not warmed up you'll come out in your first match like a zombie.
