If it's all getting moved to Sociocide anyway, I guess it's OK to derail . . . right? Sure it is.
It doesn't matter whether meth heads stop committing crimes or not. Why do we have a widespread meth problem in the first place? 'Cause we tried to squash opiates and the like out of existence, so some genius thought it would be a great idea to cook up something out of ammonia, match heads, battery acid, and whatever else they throw in that burgoo.
Why did coke take off in the 1970's, when it had been known and freely sold in drugstores a hundred years before? Because there was lots of money to be made by criminals, and criminals don't care whether the way they make lots of money is legal.
It doesn't make any sense to say that we have to keep doing something that isn't working because it's the only way to fix the problems created by that same approach in the first place. Treating people who use (some) recreational drugs the same way we treat murderers and rapists is ridiculous. It didn't work on alcohol. It's not working on meth, either, no matter how much we hate the stuff.Last edited by Don Gwinn; 11/11/2007 9:15pm at .

Perhaps if people had more to enjoy in life then the 3-4 hours they get to come home from their shitty job and watch TV we'd see less true addiction.
