Thread: NAGA Video and Question

I've got about 6 solid months of grappling behind me, I think I could have gone down to Novice without feeling too bad about it, but I did wrestle some in high school so I felt like I would rather compete up a bit than down a bit. If you've got 6-8 months of BJJ and any kind of size/strength advantage you'll probably whoop me good.
I wish google video would quit screwing around and make my videos visible....

Nope, I'm 125lbs with 8 months or so of no-gi training under a purple.
If novice is under beginner, that's what I'll probably be competing in. There's some holes in my game that are a mile wide but hey, that's why we train.

If you've already got 8 months you'll be in Beginner at NAGA by the time it comes around again. Sucks to be you though, the weightclasses are 139.9 and down, so you'll be giving up some weight. I'll be happy to roll with you though, for once I'll have the weight advantage. We've both got about the same experience level, so it should be a blast.
If I were able to get an Athens throwdown do you think you could make that? I'm betting Whiteshark and Wolf could, dunno about Anna and KidS.... I know a few other locals who could make it....

Yeah, I wouldn't mind gaining 10lbs by then. Athens isn't that far away, but I might just stay the night.
Regarding your comment on cardio, my conditioning is inversely proportional to the skill level and/or weight of my opponent...

I'd try to make it depending on if my car is back in business by then.
You guys will be happy to know that I havent stepped foot in a gym in about 3 months now so I wont beat you all up nearly as badly as I otherwise might. :)

Id have transitioned to northsouth and taken an arm instead.
If the guy had listened to his cornerman and gotten the underhook both of your options would have been a bit trickier to execute. His halfguard game was not there.
The grip is not bad if i understand what you mean. If you transition to north south, and your grip lifts under his armpit. Itll force his forehead down the mat. From where you play from a sprawled position with your usual options.
If you wanted to play from where you were. You could have grabbed one of his leg and flatten him on his back to get proper sidemount.

I only watched about 30 seconds so far, lol. I gotta run now, but I'll watch the rest later.

Yeah, I keep seeing that every time I watch it and wondering why I didn't armbar him. If I had I might have won the second match since I wouldn't have been as tired.
