Honestly I never call anyone out on a BS move. A lot of the moves are culturally ingrained into forms, dance or kata. This makes them tradition and people hold them sacred. I believe a lot of it can be used in principal though, thinking outside of the box is a valuable tool in any fight. Some of these non practical moves force you to think of ways an enemy could attack you unconventionally. So I believe they play an important part in teaching both young and old martial artist a lesson.

Not just diplomatic, it's acknowledging the facts that

1) you're dealing with cultural traditions as well as ass-kicking
2) the principles may well be practical, if you know them well enough to be able to improvize with them in the heat of the moment and
3) it's good to be able to think/fight outside the box.


IMO if more martial artists (and fighters) had the experience of traveling and training in a wide range of styles in their original cultural contexts, the MA world would be a much better place.

Cris Angle is always upfront about the fact that he has no actual "powers" and that it is all an illusion. In fact he did a good debunking program about mediums and showed how they fool people with simple tricks.

As for Human Weapon, it is a good show. If you look at what else is out there, like Fight Science, Human Weapon is probably the best MA show on television.

Yes, I saw him paired with Geller, and I thought- "can't we get rid of this guy, once and for all!?" As far as Angel goes, I think he's just another guy that's playing it for all it's worth, and from what I can tell, he gets a lot of grade A starlets/models, god bless him. Still, being in the same room with Geller reeks of Bullshit.

I've heard Uri calling himself a "mentalist" in interviews lately, and the other night I heard him discuss his infamous appearance on the Tonight Show where his tricks flopped, in Uri's own words, "because Johnny Carson was an amateur magician and he knew exactly what I was doing, but I didn't know that he did". I was pretty surprised. Mentalist is to "psychic" what illusionist is to "magician" (in the old school Faust sense). I think Geller might be transitioning a) to avoid further debunking and b) the success of people like Angel etc. shows that the public can increasingly actually appreciate tricks done on the basis of skill/psychology/illusion without mumbo jumbo.
