Tessen were symbols of status within the bushi class structure, often the only thing bushi were permitted to carry in the presence of their seniors was a fan thus, its use evolved into a means of last resort. --tessenjutsu-- Indeed tessen were often constructed out of solid iron and fabricated to 'look' like a conventional fan, expressly used as a cosh and striking implement. - But not as you saw it in the you tube clip that was bullshit.

Takeda Sokaku (Dai-to Ryu) was known to always carry an iron tessen with him at all times

You wouldn't diss fans if you'd ever practiced at a proper ninja fan club.

Yes, the music was awesome, totally "last battle in an swords and sorcery film, lord of the rings or something". It really got me thinking how all those moves could kill and how you need to be careful using them real speed.

The japanese rope bondage was totally hot too.

The only problem I have with the video is that they couldn't find a better place than a small grassy area in a parking area ... They should've been on the concrete.

I'm pretty sure it was Hans Zimmer's stuff from The Last Samurai - That movie where the ninjas get pwnd in the most realistic part of the movie. Straight-bladed swords, black eye makeup, tiny crossbows, Tom Cruise somehow involved in the Satsuma Rebellion...Yep, proof positive.
