I've heard some talk by folks that LINE training was making some sort of comeback... That'd be extraordinarily sad since LINE is so much bullshit (even on paper) that I feel a need to bathe whenever I read about it.

However, I'd also heard from a Level 4 instructor that the Schoolhouse is making gains by leaps and bounds, despite some resistance in higher ranks who want a return to the bygone era of former HTH manuals (I've heard some folks comment that the older folks think rolling on the ground is too gay, too dangerous in a combat zone - broken glass, rocks, and all, y'know - and so they want to move toward the punchy-kicky-knifey stuff again).

Whatever. Ask the guy who he was certified by, who he actually heard this from, and I suspect he'll balk and fail to pony up with hard facts that could/would confirm such a story.

I agree with yrkoon9 Even my National Guard unit just sent 2 guys to become level 2 so they can bring combatives to my Army Guard.

MACP might evolve a little more, but it's going nowhere. The main problem is people like me, who disagree with teaching groundfighting without at least covering how to get there, let alone giving you a few options prior to getting there.

If you have been to combatives you know how to get the ground. I rember in my punch day (a day where you drill getting in for the take down) all the Sgts. get to punch the crap outta you and all you can do is try to clinch for the take down. I had a busted lip and we even had a broken nose in our class. And thats all in level 1.

TheSlade, there's having been to the combatives class, and there's the amount that most soldiers get, which is once in a great while.

The guy is full of ****.

MACP is growing more and more. Its unlike most prior incarnations of Combatives, MACP is Common Task (meaning that it is required for EVERYONE to do it).
