    UFC 78: VALIDATION - 11/17/2007 7pm PT / 10pm ET

    Date Time: 11/17/2007 7pm PT / 10pm ET
    Event Type: PPV Live
    Location: Prudential Center, NJ

    Michael Bisping Vs. Rashad Evans
    Thiago Silva Vs. Houston Alexander
    David Terrell Vs. Ed Herman
    Ryo Chonan Vs. Karo Parisyan
    Frank Edgar Vs. Spencer Fisher
    Chris Lytle Vs. Thiago Alves
    Jason Reinhardt Vs. Joe Lauzon
    Luke Caudillo Vs. Marcus Aurelio
    Akihiro Gono Vs. Tamdan McCrory

Some have said this card is weak. I feel this is a strong card with many potentially exciting matchups. The only ‘problem’ is that the main event features a pair of TUF winners, and not some ‘home grown’ fighter. Add to this Dana White’s promise that Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz would have a rematch next throws a lot of fans off. I’m especially looking to see Tiago Silva and Houston Alexander trade some heavy blows. Karo doing so more throws on the Piranha. Edgar and Fisher will totally go to war. Joe Lauzon giving the undefeated Jason Reinhardt his first loss. Marcus Aurelio, who choked out Takanori Gomi, in action again. It would be interesting to see the ring entrance of Gono, and what he can do in the UFC cage.

Bisping, Alexander, Parisyan, Edgar and Lauzon on the same card make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The only part of this card that is weak is the main event. The rest of the card is quite exciting, if they had a real main event it would be one of the best cards in quite a while.

A dumb kind of dumb name? What are they validating anyway? That can a TUF guy fight evenly with another TUF guy?

EDIT: And yeah, the main event is really pretty "Meh" on my scale now that I recall previous matches from both fighters. Well, Rashad has been always pretty high on the meh-scale for me.

I'm picking the entire right hand side of that list to win.

Very doubtful Bisping could stop Rashad's takedowns, and if Rashad can mount and pound out Jason Lambert I don't see Bisping faring well.

    Thiago Silva Vs. Houston Alexander
Silva has looked competent but not amazing in previous performances, but Alexander's spent so little time in the ring it's tough to judge. Leaning towards Alexander, though.

    David Terrell Vs. Ed Herman
Terrel is a mental flake when it comes to MMA, despite his considerable talents. Against a seasoned veteran like Tanner, that meant blowing his wad and getting pounded out. Against an overrated mid-carder like Ed Herman, it just means he's not going to look as dominant as we'd expect him to en route to a convincing win.

    Ryo Chonan Vs. Karo Parisyan
Chonan's first outing at welterweight; it's tough to judge him based on previous performances. Still, he beat Newton on the ground back when that still meant something, and was narrowly edging out a win in the standup vs Anderson Silva, so I tend to think that he's a little too good for Karo, despite the fact that Karo is very, very good.

    Frank Edgar Vs. Spencer Fisher
This is going to be fight of the night, and short of a flash flying knee KO it's going to be Edgar winning by virtue of superior wrestling and toughness.

    Chris Lytle Vs. Thiago Alves
This is going to be a fantastic stand up striking match that Lytle is going to win as soon as it hits the ground.

    Jason Reinhardt Vs. Joe Lauzon
    WAR LAUZON

    Luke Caudillo Vs. Marcus Aurelio
Caudillo is a solid fighter who's lost every time he's really stepped up in competition, and I'll be surprised if he doesn't do so again vs Aurelio.

    Akihiro Gono Vs. Tamdan McCrory
Gono's superior dancing wins the entrance, McCrory's superior reach and superior wrestling wins the fight.

Michael Bisping by TKO Vs. Rashad Evans
(My true wish is that they both die in the ring, but barring that, at least Bisping tries to win his fights, no matter how horribly his opponents, or the judging, suck enormous, infected, gangrenous balls)

Thiago Silva Vs. Houston Alexander by KO
(Looking forward to this, hard to bet against Alexander)

    David Terrell Vs. Ed Herman
(Tough for me to call, sounds good, but haven't seen Terrell fight in awhile)

Ryo Chonan by SUB Vs. Karo Parisyan
(Karo's gettin' caught after a slam this time, IMO)

The main event is weak. Not just weak, we're talking weaker than a work between tomato cans no one in Japan even cares about. Weaker than Royce when he's off the juice. Weaker than a fucking crippled premature infant.

Rashad Evans Round 2 KO / TKO - meh maybe decision...
Houston Alexander Round 1 KO / TKO - Hard to call based on the 60sec I've seen him fighting. I think it will go a bit longer this time, but still first round.
Spencer Fisher Round 2 KO / TKO
Joe Lauzon Round 1 Submission / Tapout
David Terrell Round 2 Submission / Tapout
    Akihiro Gono Decision
Marcus Aurelio Round 2 Submission / Tapout
    Karo Parisyan Decision
    Thiago Alves Decision
