    Hell yeah! Hell no!
It's also worth noting that there's been a serious push to remove mens boxing from the olympics for being "against the spirit of the games". That and other factors actually prevented womens boxing from making the olympics in 2008.

Because a surprising amount of people regard boxing as brutal, and maybe it is.

In any case, it's been called "against the spirit of the games" because you're supposed to beat the person up, which is markedly different from beating them in a race or something.

our society has become much too wussified
combat sports were a big part of the original olympics, and boxing was one of the original events, I don't see how it can possibly go against the 'spirit of the games'.

Also of note, russia did attempt to get sambo into the olympic games at one point. i've heard each country is allowed to put one event into the olympics when they host, however it has to be approved and reapproved and then special approved and there just wasnt enough international interest for sambo.

I'm not so sure about that. In the states they might go pro. However, that's not an option in most of the world. Outside USA, Japan and Brazil I'd say there are very few pro MMA fighters but a lot of amateur ones.

I agree with you on the ruleset, though.

Even with the current rules ther is allot of BLOOD in the fights no way they will allow MMA in the Olympic. Atleast not until there is a wya toget the fights to be more clean in apearance.

Than again I could be wrong, excellent observation.(I know I have excellent observation skills):eusa_thin
