    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    MMA in the Olympics?

I did a forum search with the search phrase "mma olympic sport" and didn't find any relivent results so I am guessing that this hasn't been covered yet.

I was wondering, what do you think it would take to make MMA an olympic sport?

I can imagine obnoxious TUF fan boys in the Olympic crowd, screaming into the cameras, doing that 'sign of the devil/rock 'n roll' thing with their hands, wearing Tapout shirts, swilling beer while they boo the two contestants in the ring/cage because they've been on the ground or in a clinch for more then twelve seconds.

That imagery is amusing. But if they can put up with soccer and hockey fans, they can damn sure put up with MMA fans.

Hmm...I BJJ becoming an Olympic sport would be a good first step?

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

They already got Judo though, might as well throw in SAMBO too and you've got the Triumverate right there.

I'd love to see MMA as an Olympic sport, it's a darn side more in the spirit of the games than fucking 'speed walking' or whatever the **** they call that ****.

I thought you were kidding about speed walking being an Olympic sport until I googled it. Jesus-Tap-Dancing-Christ, I thought curling was bad.

Its this modern day mindset. Too many people hate doing stuff that actually requires physical exertion.

I think it's actually quite hard, I mean, compared to some of the things you could do it is.

But it's not brutally fucking body destroyingly hard like an Olympic sport should be. Think about it, how insulting is it to the gymnasts, triatheltes, power lifters etc. of the world to have a set of fucking glorified 'joggers' held in the same esteem as them? It's ridiculous.

Well, they already have boxing and wrestling so if they put the two together they'd be pretty close to MMA. I'd love to see it but I think we're going to have to be patient for that. Hopefully it will happen in our life time but we (as fans and competitors) still have a ways to go before our sport gets the recognition it needs to be an olympic event.

in regards to speedwalking (or racewalking), I actually knew someone who was an alternate on the 1992 women's team for the USA. She could "walk" a mile faster than I could run one.
