    Have you trained in aikido?
Have you ever trained in Go Kan Ryu? I'd hope not, don't get me wrong.

    Edit:

The "you are not qualified to question the art" argument, sometimes referred to as the Aikido Defense, is what people use when they can't come back with compelling arguments to defend their silly art. It's a form of ad homieum. The fact is that an outsider is usually more objective than an insider - as demonstrated by the fact that the kata apologists here mostly list their arts field as some form of TMA. They are TMAers defending the silly practices of their art.

...aahhh you're saved from a long answer, gotta go mate. Will respond on this discussion point later if I remember

Ahhh, another hastily scribed two sentence retort from the 'hit and run post' stylings of my favorite sophist.

[edit] Oh look, he bumped it up to 4 sentences.

    That must have drained you.

Kata in the style field = Kata = TMA.

Sophistry or not, you are the same type of individual you are busy trying to tar and feather.

The difference is, at least we train in some type of Martial Art.

You just sit on the curb and throw stones.

No. But I did train in Shotokan quite a long time, which as you know is one of the arts claimed as a component of GKR. The rest is gleaned from visiting their classes, and speaking to their instructors. Experience and research means I know what I'm looking for, and looking at.

    That's not what I asked.
I asked purely to get an idea whether you'd know what you were looking at if you watched aikido.
You know, because, I'd hate for you to be basing your ideas on co-operative training methods and drills.
I mean, you wouldn't come onto a forum and post "OMG guys, I just saw Muay Thai! It's rubbish, all they do is hit bags and pads" because you'd watched some co-operative drills with pads. Would you?
Obviously, I'm being a little facetious... even someone with little training can spot that there's a good reason why MT stylists don't kick the living **** out of eachother with their entire arsenal all the time.

If you don't know anything about aikido, you could mistake the gay roly-poly stuff for the actual techniques.
That's why I asked whether you'd trained in aikido.

Speaking of gay roly-poly, WILLIAM Burroughs wrote Naked Lunch.

    Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote Tarzan.
