His shooto, MT and JKD courses all are one hell of a workout with Shooto and MT also including sparring. Ron is pretty good at assessing the skills of the attendees and tailoring his material to the average skill level.
Kali and silat tend to get a bit on the fancy side for my taste though, even if in sparring it's obvious that he knows his **** (but there he also sticks to the basics). I still won't be skipping his kali courses, though. Maybe we should ask for a lameco session next year.
His usual assistant (Joey) looks entirely too much like a young Dave Grohl.
Why did you edit out the 'what's Ron like?' question?

Edit: the rambling is to be blamed on sleep deprivation. Me go beddy-bed now.
I didn't edit it, the moderator did. Thanks for the info.

Oh, I thought he meant the post title. What's Ron like seemed obvious, after reading it.

Ron and his wife are dear friends of mine.

I hesitate to make the knee-jerk comment, but Punchy, you know not of what you speak.

Ron has more experience both in the gym and in real life than most here will ever have. He was also with the Cook Co. Sheriffs Dept. in Chicago as well as his ring and private career.

I also have a small amateur and pro ring history, but an extensive history in the gym and the real world. And I would take umbrage to any sniveling little **** that questions my integrity and credentials from half a world away. I too am not a fan of keyboard ninjas. I too might come out fighting.

So, I agree that it is easy to talk **** when you never have to prove it. I understand him taking issue with that. I probably would too.

Ron is a great guy, well versed in MA, a good teacher, and a friend. I am trying to not come off as biased as I probably am.

I've been to two of them. I thought his instruction of groundwork and dirty boxing was awesome, I thought his instruction on takedowns was counter-intuitive, and I thought his kali segment was neat but waaaaaaay more complicated than it needed to be. It was good seminar instruction but not as good as I've gotten from, for example, Leo Gaje.

Very True. Ron has a very beautiful wife.

    & very well spoken.

& very personable (she signed my copy of "The Prodigy" that Ron sold me at the Cold Steel Challenge the other day)

& their son kicks pretty hard ( he kicked me in the shin. Definitely takes after his parents!)

(Hi Ron if you're reading this!) :toothy5:

Wow, you're an overzealous, touchy, idiotic little ****.

Honestly, you actually find the guy's fought in MMA, won a match and still decide to trash him? And how the hell did you find out about his wins/losses without finding out about who he really is? You're Google-Fu is weak, grasshoppa. Oh, and don't come bitching here when your inflamatory remark is met with disdain. Contrary to popular belief, being told to go **** your mother is quite common in this situation.
