The Dog Brothers gatherings are not tournaments. Machado jiujitsu is part of the DBMA mix.

Thank you for clearing this up for me, Codos. I got that info from a Kali guy, his point was that Dog Brothers is not real MA, it is just guys who beat the crap out of each other (???) I was torn over whether or not to believe him, because on one hand YEAH! Jiu jitsu wins again! On the other hand, the guy was kind of a prick.

Replace the "Kali" label for that guy with Kenpo, or Wing Chun.

and Replace the dog brothers with UFC/MMA fighters.

Same thing. FMA has its douche's just like any other art.

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

This isn't really indicative of daily events over here. We're one of the more peaceful countries in the world. :) It just popped into my head when swords were mentioned. I still can't believe people are running around with swords nowadays.
I was going to say how our samurai sword waving people in the US are just lone nutballs and I found this amusing link, which is a compilation of news stories from around the world involving swords: http://www.thearma.org/essays/Fringe.htm. Fun read, but probably old news to many of you. The phrase they use, "Samurai Night Fever," made me laugh.

What surprises me is how many of these sword attacks are non-lethal and what doesn't surprise me is how often waving a sword around in public gets you shot.
