    Blauer High Gear suit

    Hi folks

I'm looking for a used one because $1400 is more than I can afford.

    Is anybody selling one?

If you can't find "pre-loved" High Gear for sale, you can actually put together a pretty good facsimile with standard sports protective equipment and some ingenuity, depending on exactly what you want to use the suit for (weapon sparring, unarmed defense training, etc.)

I'd want to use it for both weapon and unarmed training.

What sports protective equipment do you mean? So far I've seen motocross and snowboarding equipment that looks promising.

I want one of these (keep in mind, this is a real, functional suit):

Comes down to details. If you want a suit that will let you safely withstand, say, multiple knees to the head in self defense training, that's one type of equipment; if you want something for sparring with padded batons or whatever, that's another. You can save yourself $$ and headaches (literally) by being specific about what you will be using the suit for.

That's Troy Hurtubise in his anti-grizzly bear armor, from the Canadian documentary "Project Grizzly" (which is well worth seeing). Hurtubise is one eccentric character ...
