Need Help with Story Details About Bruce Lee

I remember there was a discussion on another forums a long time ago about Bruce Lee. Pretty far into the discussion, someone said that Bruce Lee challenged someone to a fight (the name escapes me). Apparently, this person was much bigger than Bruce Lee, which worked against Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee tried putting him into a grappling move but it didn't work because of the other guys size. Bruce Lee eventually got fed up with not being able to do anything against this guy that he threatened to kill him.

Unfortunately, I don't remember which forums this discussion was on (besides, what Martial Arts forums doesn't have one or two threads about Bruce Lee?)

Are you thinking of the Wong Jak Man fight? Because that's not what happened.

I know Gene LeBell put Lee in a grappling lock and made him give up after Lee threw a kick at him.

    No, not that fight.

I don't think it was that one.

If I remember correctly, Bruce Lee was just starting to get into grappling and wanted to try it out on someone. So, he tried it on this guy (who's name still escapes me), but lost.

I believe LeBell go Lee interested in grappling. Maybe it was Larry Hartlsel, guy who just died recently...

AFAIK lebell grabbed lee and held him in kata guruma (Fireman's carry) for a few minutes, with lee unable to escape. This was on the set of the green hornet, and led to lee training with Lebell for a few months.

Well, Gene did it as a prank to make the stuntman laugh. Bruce told him if he didn't put him down he'd kill him. Gene kept running around with Bruce on his shoulders and replied "But if I put you down, you'll kill me!" After that they became buddies. Bruce used to love Gene's Judo breakfalls and kept requesting that he come back as an extra and stuntman because Gene would fly when Bruce hit him, and make him look good. Go on youtube, there's Green
Hornet eps. where Bruce kicks Gene into the next room.

Bruce also trained in locking and grappling with Gene. Wally Jay, too.
