Bruce had good solid crosstraining theory, but as good as he was, fighters in general have taken that example and run with it. He'd not be the myth if he came up today. There are certain times when things are just right, these myths are born...he was tough though.

EDIT: isn't jowgar a fungus, that grows in empty heads?

There. Example of martial arts before the Shaolin. That conversation is over with.

This thread is already becoming a dead, stinking, horse carcass that some people are just gonna beat 'till the OP gets pissed of and leaves. Then, people will start talking about homosexuality and Wing Chun.

    Have fun.

Woooo! Time to lynch me a LARPer!
Wait, wait, wait I got it: The Shaolin Monks went back in time with their Chi Powerz and traveled to Ancient Greece where they found Pankration.

The thing was, these guys were t3h gh3y for not wearing whitey tighties that their mom wrote their names in marker on the back while the wrassled. (Besides, we all know Grappling in China was forbidden because the ground was filled with shards of opium smokey-thingies... and lava)

So they decided just to kill Socrates with a Chi Blast as he was enjoying some Hemlock Tea (Good for Rheumatism) and go back to Azn-Land to cultivate their Wushu Backflips S'more.

Of course, anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As for Bruce Lee, I agree that he's overrated. While I do give the man credit where it's due, he's not a god or anything.

Someone should throw in a link to the Unsettled Matters ebook. That really makes you question everything people feed you about Bruce Lee.
According to the temples take on things it was also to help them defend the temple against local bandits that would rob them of food and such, as well as excercise.

Bruce lee was awesome. Probly overated in fighting ability- but you gotta give it to him, he was a pretty awesome athlete and very good at getting noticed.

I know what you mean. But at least he hasn't challenged anyone to a fight. Yet.
Just please dont confuse him with the people who enjoy CMA's and aren't idiots...
