Out of curiosity, what does one do as a warrant officer?

Is it like being a comissioned officer without being comissioned?

    Nope, 352P. Remember, I was a 98G for 12 years before I was a 97E/35M.

A commissioned officer is a generalist in their field. They have to know a little bit about everything in their assigned branch. The Warrant Officer is also a commissioned officer (at the CW2 level) but specializes in one aspect (such as myself with languages).

This is a pretty gross oversimplification, but you get the idea.

    Congrats!

Not knowing much about the military, even I know that Warrant Officer is extremely impressive.

A Canadian Warrant is vstl different from it's American Counterpart. Canadians call all their senior NCOs "Warrant Officers" whereas The US uses the term to describe an enlisted man who has become such an expert in his field that he deserves a commission.

Simply put, Officers are managers, WOs are experts.

I keep forgetting if you're active or not. But yeah, sucky 98Gs. Oh wait, that's my job . . . until I'm a 35P in like a week and a half. They keep toying with us here about the DLPT5, and now I'm supposedly the first class taking it here, but on the 4 curriculum.

My ass is going to hurt for at least a month.
