Well done to you. In the good old UK Armed Forces, you would be called "Mister" even by HM Queen Elizabeth II. (I'm not a Monarchist, BTW) and once a upon a time you would recieve a Warrant signed by the Sovereign hence the term "Warrant Officer". After a while, it became the Chief of the General Staff (principal soldier), one old sweat I worked with claimed his had been signed by FM Montgomery (later "Viscount" - that's a senior Lord).
If you were in the RAF, you'd probably run it.
