Help Me Save Someone From Ninjutsu

I have a friend who, as I understand it, is considering taking up Ninjutsu.
Now, I feel that it is in her best interest to be educated about the various problems (dubious history, commercialism, ineffectual techniques, lack of aliveness, and so on) of ninjutsu before she gets involved. I've sent her links to Bullshido.com's ninjutsu article, as well as ones explaining the importance of aliveness, and one on Ninjutsu's dubious historical authenticity.
Now, if she is fully aware of the problems of ninjutsu, and is comfortable with them, then that's fine. But I don't want her to be thinking she's going to be learning ultra-deadly fighting skills of 11th century warriors, rather than 1950's commercialized jujutsu.
I'd also like to know if anyone can recomend some solid, legitimate schools in the Grand Rapids area that might appeal to an artsy female college student. I've looked at http://www.chanskungfu.com/index.htm. I had a friend who used to do Jow Ga at Chan's, and am pleased to see that they've added judo, MMA, and Muay Thai to their curriculum. I'm a little bit leary of them since last I saw their website they offered San Shou, but this has since been replaced by Muay Thai and MMA.

You can only give them the information and ask them to at least try a sample class at another school. Otherwise Live and Let LARP.

Show her the pictures of the ninjer gal with the rope up her arse.

Either that will send her running away...... or running to.

Plasma has teh c0rr3c7. Tell her to use free sample lessons in multiple schools and hope she chooses correctly. If she's willingly going to something that she knows has problems mentioned before then there's nothing you can really do. Knowingly LARPing is OK in my books.

Let her do her silly ninjerism then every time you see her ask her what she learnt, then just go right through the stupid technique with t3h judo.

Edit: In fact, don't even go through it with judo, just attack and resist like a normal person would.

Did you show her the matt thormton vids on youtube?

Aren't there good Ninjutsu schools out there?

But as long as she knows what she's signing up for and the school is up-front about it as well I don't see what the problem is.

Take her over here & let her take a look at the UofM Bujinkan club. Check it out for yourself & see if you can reconcile with the ninja:

Pffftwaaahahahahahaha!!!!! No seriously, I'm splitting my sides. <wipes away tears of laughter>

Girl: "Hi. I want to spend lots of time and money learning something that's historically bogus and lacking in functional application."

Ninjer instructor: "Sure, we don't really teach ninjitsu, we just say we do. Did you know that there are no extant reliable documents which link anyone alive today to ninjitsu? Yeah, fancy that huh? Ok let me show you a few standing submissions that are really hard to put on in a fight..."

I'm sure that scenario happens all the time. :5bouncy:
