To all NJ, NY, PA, DE, CT, MD, and MA grapplers.
I am in the process of setting up some "mini" tournaments. These are tournaments to give those who would like an opportunity to compete more compared to the amount of grappling tournaments that are currently around.
What is it: The tournaments will be either single rank/division or single weight tournaments. You will not have to worry about long days and high prices for these events.
For example there may be a tournament where it is only blue belts allowed to compete. Or a tournament where it will be only no-gi advanced division. We may even have tournaments where it is just a single weight class allowed to compete that day.
The main focus is to give others an opportunity to gain competition experience and use that experience to improve their grappling performance. It will also give you a chance to test yourself against those of your level while not having to deal with some of the "cons" of bigger tournaments. By participating in these types of "mini" tournaments it can help get you ready for the bigger name tournaments too because you will be staying competitively active.
Here are some things that will apply:
Registration: These tournaments will be PRE-REGISTRATION only. There will not be any registration at the door.
Cost: The cost of the tournaments will be very low compared to other tournaments
Awards: Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be given.
Cash Awards: There will be cash awards to all winners of their division. This applies to any division of any skill level.
Weight Classes: 145 and below, 160, 175, 190, 205 and above
Brackets: All brackets will be done before the day of the tournament because it is pre-registration only.
Limited Brackets: The brackets will be limited to 16 competitors. If there is less then 8 competitors in the division then the tournament will be double elimination.
Divisions for Gi: White, Blue, Purple, and Brown/Black
Divisions for No-Gi: Novice (Up to 9 Months), Beginners (9 Months to 2 Years), Intermediate (2 to 4 Years), Advanced (4 Years & Above)
If you are interested in more information with possible dates and locations please visit:
Then fill out your information in ALL divisions that you are interested in competing in. You will be contacted when a Grapplers Challenge for your division has been set up.
Also suggestions are welcome. If you have a good idea in regards to the single division tournaments I am more then happy to listen. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.

And lo, Kano looked down upon the field and saw the multitudes. Amongst them were the disciples of Uesheba who were greatly vexed at his sayings. And Kano spake: "Do not be concerned with the mote in thy neighbor's eye, when verily thou hast a massive stick in thine ass".
