    Truth about Cardio Kickboxing

    http://www.ikfkickboxing.com/Opinion-FakeKBSchools.htm

Check it. For those of you who can't get to the link, it basically says that the term "Cardio Kickboxing" is a copyrighted phrase for as style invented by some dude.

He then explains that traditional MA schools are claiming to teach CK, which is really just "Karate Aerobics".

I brought this up because of some bashing done on cardio kickboxing by many (including myself). Why is this article important? Because it claims that the "original" CK was made to be a ligitamate style of Martial Arts with a slightly larger emphasis on fitness, not something for grannies.

So now we are going to have lineage wars about Cardio Kickboxing?

And endless discussions about who has the r3al __dio__ick?

Here is the thing. Even if it was designed to be a new aerobics fad the way they teach the __dio __ick moves is damaging to your joints, aerobics is not damaging in the same fashion.

Damaging to the joints? I've never heard that before. It seems correct, but what are the warrants for that claim?

From what I've read and heard from doctors, it's similar to TaeBo in that because you are just kicking the air and nothing solid you are putting strain on your joints. It's one thing to shadow box for five to maybe 15 minutes for a warm up but to do it for an hour plus would probably pose a health risk.

Ah, Americanized hybrid styles! From cardio kickboxing to boxaerobics! Yeah, they are pointless styles (except for fitness). I guess you should just be a good, discernable consumer and just know what you want, and know the frauds out there when it comes to looking for good martial arts places. Hell, I am just stating the obvious though.

Except that the instructors of __dio __ick dont know this, they teach people to fully extend. __ing __un causes the same type of injuries to the elbows, with its endless air punching. For those that are doing this during kicking: Miniscus surgery anyone?

I'm from Atlanta and I can assure you that Atlantakick is not producing any notable kick boxers.

Cardio kickboxing comes from nubian kickboxers that passed it down, word of mouth, for the last 10,000 years. Unfortunately, there are no 10,000 year old nubians left so I would guess that it doesn't work. Who cares what the lineage of a cardio work out is. If it's a good workout, go for it.
