You know, it is stunning how closely these 5 observations reflect the needs of people being deprogrammed from cults.
no its not.

Proud to say that I'm now on stage five, training with American Top Team, couldn't be happier.
The Five Pillars of Islam (modified for BS, prolly wont be as funny)
Shahadah - to declare there is no god(s), but Allah
- [insert bitchin praise of MMA]
Salah - req. to pray 5x a day at specific times, and to face sacred Kaaba of Mecca. Focus on expressing gratitude & worship. If you cannot worship in Arabic, native tongue is allowed.
- [insert Bitchin praise of MMA] 5x a day, and face your gym.
Zakah- to give charitably (ratios of wat to give vary) to poor, city, mosque, someplace, etc.
- ah crap all my money goes to classes, sorry bro.
Sawm - ritual types vary, usually fasting from food, drink, and sex from dawn to dusk for the month of Ramadan. Seek nearness with Allah. Express gratitude, dependence, and atone for past sins. Also, do better to follow teaching of Islam and refrain from violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, harsh language, gossip and try to get along with others. This may be problematic with certain tribes, Islam understands not everyone can do this (I **** you not).
Hajj - Pilgrimage during Islamic Month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Anyone able-bodied and can afford to do so must make a pilgrimage to Mecca (a few miles to hundreds of miles, may take weeks, may not even have a means of transportation). Upon arrival, walk around the Kaaba 7x, while touching the black stone. Great sign of devotion, pilgrim gets mad props. Extreme path of self knowledge.
- Im willing to drive maybe an hour to get to my class, but that's just me.
This I took partly from memory, and filled in the rest with wikipedia.

Guys, guys, guys. All this "TMA vs Sport" rhetoric is unnecessary. You see, what I've learnt is that there are no bad martial arts. There's just good martial arts and other good martial arts that have the misfortune of having fake versions of themselves running around pretending to be the real version. Nobody just invents silly styles, especially not in the ancient times, when everyone knew how to fight.
Urrg, ahhh, ahhhhhh!!!! I'm sorry, that was just the mental anguish I go through whenever I think of these counterfeit martial arts. For some reason these bogus versions have latched themselves onto things that aren't used in MMA or full-contact events. Don't know why, must be just a coincidence.
As a practitioner of monkey kungfu, I am sick and tired of these fakes that go around ruining the good name of our art and undoing all the good work we have done to bring respect to the style. They're like a fucking evil twin, and serious practitioners of real monkey kungfu, that train it properly need to take a stand against the debasement of our art by these fakes.
