Ah, I couldn't tell. Hence my statment in the form of a question.

This stuff would only look good to someone who had never actually tried stuff against resistance - it is all pretence, as is most demo stuff. It's not even good Judo, let alone Aikido.
Hmm, okay. Yeah, flipping people who are resisting is hard. But turning Shiho Nage into an arm bar is going to make it a little easier.

What are you on about: 'legally require them to change their name'? Unless they are using a registered business name owned by somebody else, the other Aikido clubs are just objecting to it being called Aikido. Just adds to my campaign to get rid of the name 'Aikido' altogether. call this 'Realni' and we know what **** we are buying. Same goes for all the other 'styles' - use those names as the main descriptor and we can all start from a reasonable assumption of what's on offer.
    Yeah.

Uh not exactly. I was just pointing out that Realni aikido seems different. I'm certainly not going to and am not in a position to defend it as being real or deadly.

I might be wrong, but this looks really close to the way we train Shodokan Aikido at my club. Shodokan includes a little extra judo throws & over all is more martial in design.

If I remember correctly the founder of this brand of Aikido is actually a Yoshinkan guy.

I wonder what grade he achieved in Yoshinkan?

Let's not get fixated on the 'Judo throws' - there is no such thing. For example, ogoshi hip throw is certainly used in Aikido and probably many other Japanese MA - Judo and Aikido are relatively modern so in the process of their creation it is not surprising they share techniques.

Shodokan (with randori) and Yoshinkan (with jiyuwaza 'freestyle') are perhaps the most 'alive' and if the guy had any Aikido training it would probably be within those two, but I'm still not impressed with the quality.
