I started cooking for myself in the few months. It's really not as hard as you think, and eventually, you'll start to prefer it to fast food.

Preach brother! Get the joy of cooking book, it's a classic. Once you figure out what you're doing, you'll be a happy camper.

Were there as many sick/fat/depressed people when they made soda without high fructose corn syrup?

What happened the past 50 years. Society was more healthy. Now many people have love handles and are tired easily.

Go back farther than 50 years. When soda was a novelty vs a common beverage. The thing is access and convenience. Back then people had to go to the soda fountain to get a pop. it was a treat to be had every now and then. Now all you have to do is weeble wobble your fat ass to the fridge.

I have read a few studies that said sesame seeds contain mood elevating chemicals. Snacking on those instead of junk food will add another whole grain to your diet.

Flax seed has Omega 3s in it. Look into putting that into the meals you eat.

Eat fruit instead of refined flour filled sweets.

Sometimes, the lack of sunlight during winter months can have an effect on your mood. Try to get 10 minutes of sun a day.

Some of the suggestions made here are great. Do the little things and you may see an improvement in how you feel. Good luck.
