Grasshopper Guard Shoulder Crank

Ok, who's tried this: You've countered a dump pass by weighing heavy and dropping your hips way to the ground, then hooking under his thighs with his arms now trapped by your legs. Grasshopper Guard.

Sure you could push his head through and past your groin then scramble over to the back, or collar choke his now isolated head. But why be practical when you can be a prick?

Get a grip on one of his sleeves under his wrist then push his wrist backwards. His forearm flares outward and back towards his feet, his elbow rotates inward on this axis. Does anybody understand me?

I prefer to be flashy if I actually get here. Scoot to the side, making sure to break the outside elbow down so he can't post with it, and do the standard butterfly sweep, spinning to knee on belly. Raise my arms to frame my head while singing "Flash, ahh ahhhhhh!"

I haven't seen the shoulder lock before, though.

The best part about this is that I learned this move from "Dynamic Judo 2: Ne Waza" which was printed in 1967. Everything old is kickass again.

Can't find a pic. OK, someone just tried to do a double-under pass, but you scooted your torso away from them and made it heavy, keeping them centered. At this point they have their head in your crotch and one arm around each leg, from the bottom. You move your feet from behind them into butterfly hooks, trapping their arms. Grasshopper guard.

Interesting. I've never heard of this called grasshopper guard before. Nor have I ever gotten stuck once I am apparently in grasshopper guard. If I have both arms out and under it's over for the other guy. Then again I could be missing something? Pics are needed for sure.

I prefer to roll over backwards and hit a single leg if someone attempts a double under pass on me. It doesn't work on Purple belts but at least its funny!

This...er...sounds more like you're trying to make a pass at the guy, or humiliate him, than do anything.

I've never seen anyone caught in this, never heard of it before, and it sounds like it sucks and is seriously lacking in potential for application to anything but a less skilled, less strong, less intelligent opponent.

It's a standard defense to the double underhooks pass. It works.

I don't see the point in naming it as a type of guard though, it's not a position I would want to hang around in.
